EHang, a global leader in Urban Air Mobility (UAM), has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by obtaining Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for its EH216-S electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This accomplishment positions EHang as the world’s first eVTOL company to secure a complete set of regulatory certifications, including the Type Certificate (TC), Standard Airworthiness Certificate (AC), Production Certificate (PC), and now the Air Operator Certificate (OC).

Launch of Commercial Operations

With these certifications, EHang is set to commence commercial operations, offering paid passenger services in Guangzhou and Hefei. Customers can now purchase tickets for low-altitude tourism and urban sightseeing flights, marking the official debut of manned autonomous flight services in China’s burgeoning low-altitude economy.

Future Expansion Plans

EHang plans to expand its services beyond tourism and sightseeing. The company aims to introduce urban commuting options as part of its broader strategy to integrate eVTOL solutions into daily transportation. This initiative aligns with China’s vision to develop a robust low-altitude economy and showcases the potential of autonomous aerial vehicles in transforming urban mobility.

Strategic Partnerships and Infrastructure Development

To support its operational goals, EHang is collaborating with local partners to establish additional low-altitude transportation centers across China. These centers will facilitate the expansion of commercial operations and assist local operators in obtaining necessary certifications, thereby promoting the widespread adoption of eVTOL services nationwide.EHang

EHang’s recent achievements underscore its leadership in the eVTOL industry and highlight the rapid advancements in urban air mobility. As the company embarks on this new chapter of commercial operations, it sets a precedent for the integration of autonomous aerial vehicles into urban transportation systems, promising a future where air mobility is accessible, efficient, and eco-friendly.
