BYD Launches High-Performance EV Motor with Over 30,000 RPM
Alongside the revolutionary charging platform (Super e-Platform), BYD also unveiled a new high-performance electric motor in March 2025. This motor is capable of spinning at speeds of up to 30,511 revolutions per minute (RPM), making it the first mass-produced motor in the world to exceed the 30,000 RPM mark.
The new motor boasts a peak power output of up to 580 kW (778 horsepower), exceeding the performance of a V12 gasoline engine, according to the company. It also achieves an industry-leading power density of 16.4 kW/kg. This high-performance motor will be integrated into vehicles built on the new “Super e-Platform,” such as the Han L and Tang L EVs.
To complement this powerful motor, BYD has developed a new generation of silicon carbide power chips with voltage ratings up to 1,500 volts, further enhancing the efficiency and performance of their electric vehicles.
